Of course, wishlist is not mandatory, but when it says "please avoid the following countries, as I already have a lot: ... Finland" and then I receive a letter with 100% Finland (without even a word of explanation), I think someone misunderstood the spirit of this website.

the rule and spirit of this website is: a positive rating (4 or 5) is fair for a lot of any country stamps if they´re 100 different, used and undamaged. i got eg. 100 german stamps or 100 italian stamps and i still rated them 4 or 5 even if those countries are not in my wishlist or the lots did not include any stamps of my favorite themes ;)

Of course, but your wishlist does not mention "please no german/italian stamps" :)

Rule and spirit are not the same. What you remember are the rules and I won't give a negative rating for someone who respects the rules. But the spirit is at least to read the partners wishlist and to try to follow it. I think by the way that it's a pleasure to crawl through my stamps in order to find some that could interest my partner. Of course you cannot always fulfill the dreams. When I feel that I cannot really fulfill any wishes I add some words like "but I have not at all XYZ in my collection, I hope this selection is also interesting for you..."

My wishlist is not narrow so most partners have at least some corresponding stamps. So when a collector sends me 100% stamps of one of the few countries I explicitely don't ask for, this either means that he doesn't read the wishlist or that he doesn't care. So for me he's still in the rules, but not in the spirit -> no negative, but neutral rating.

It's logical you get the impression that the sender didn't look at your wishlist. I wouldn't understand either. Why???
The best you can do is to explain the reason why you sent these stamps. That's what I always do if wishes cannot be realized.
