24 stamps had hinges or writing or (occasionally) damage. Also a lot of small stamps.

Hinges are not damage. They usually date back to a time when albums didn't have inserts.
They are also easily removed in warm water.

All right. I raised it to a 4. Two stamps had actual damage plus there were ones with writing, and half the stamps were small so I'm not doing a 5.
