On or off paper

On paper or off paper:
I would be very pleased to make an appointment for all members about the number of stamps off paper within the 100 stamps. One does not collect stamps on paper, our albums are not made that way too. I always send only off paper and I have received twice the majority on paper. My proposal is not more than 25 on paper, residual (75 in this case) soaked off. To remove stamps from paper by soaking is a very precise and longlasting job, we all to do that..........I think.
Thank you for your attention, Stella.

Seems to be quite a difference of opinion concerning self-adhesive stamps from USA. It is possible to remove the paper backing easily with solvents (see YouTube videos), but sometimes the stamp is left with a sticky residue. Talc paper does help (very small amount!) but that can then leave some residue powder in your album, especially Vario sheets. I support the idea that a limit be put on self adhesive stamps, perhaps no more than 10 or 15 out of the 100 stamps. Of course, if the stamps can be soaked off in water, I think that they should always be done so.

stamps with possible BACK PRINT please do not soak them in water, if you do not know how to remove the paper without removing the gum, leave them on the paper.

im not familiar with all that stuff and never succeeded in removing certain stamps of paper ...so i continue to send stamps on paper no matter some ask not to receive them -they are still used stamps and in good condition ;)

I use a sticker removal called eau eclarate (I buy in France and Belgium). I soak the USA stamps in it, and they come off immediately. Only they are still sticky, I use talc powder. They are just the same how they come off of the stamp sheet. There are other methods or fluids used, please look on YouTube.

For USA self-adhesive stamps, if someone wants to try this technique. Try to soak only the paper, not the stamp (so put them on water, stamp facing up and don't let them sink). Then remove the wet paper. After that, with a stamps forceps grab the glue and pull. If the glue is also wet it will start getting out of the stamp. Patience, carefulness and plenty of time is need to do this without damaging the stamp. If the stamps gets too wet it will get damaged when you pull the glue. Also take notice that the glue will get out in parts and start gluing in your fingers ...

I agrre, but we have to be understanding towards few exceptions... I know, that USA stamps can be removed with Zippo lighter fluid, but I dont do that (1st: damage to the color, 2nd cost of fluid). Italian stamps of new era cant be removed so I send them on paper - not because I dont want to remove it, just because it is impossible...

i dont mind receiving stamps on paper and part of what i send usually includes stamps on paper too. i dont take eg. more recent Usa and Finland stamps off paper anyway as i have no idea how to do that without damaging the stamps -so i put them in my albums with paper on. i think in these 100 stamps exchanges they can be on or off paper, there is no rule about that -important is they are in good condition (no cut edges, bent, thinning)? :) of course i prefer already soaked off stamps too but i dont mind doing that myself either ^^

I also agree with you for sending stamps off paper. By this way we can get clean and clear stamps and no damaged stamps. If the gum is cleaned well then the stamps will also remain in fine condition for a very long time. Sometimes the residual gums may detoriate the stamps in long time by becoming the color yellowish.

I agree with Stella. People should remove the paper from the stamps before sending them. I am also starting to get tired of removing paper on the stamps I receive. And with some self-adhesive stamps sometimes this can be a challenging job (for example self-adhesive stamps from the USA are challenging; but as I already had to remove over 50, after damaging some I think now I have discovered the technique).
Thank you all for removing the paper off the stamps. :-)
