bad practice

Hello, in my understanding, "revenge ratings" should not be accepted on this platform. I sent a lot to one member nearly three months ago and he did not register it. Yesterday, I registered a lot that I received from the same user. As it contained mostly CTOs (and my profile says explicitely that I do not collect them) and no interesting stamps, I gave a negative rating. One day later, "coincidence", the user suddenly registers the stamps that he pretended unreceived for three months. Of course, he gives me the same negative rating, complaining that I sent him too many CTOs. It's true that I sent CTOs but only precisely from the countries from his wishlist, as I only had CTOs from this countries to give. I had even asked him whether he prefers CTOs from these countries or normal stamps from other countries - no answer.

What I want to point out is the practice to wait for my rating and then "suddenly" register my letter that seemed having disappeared for three months. This kind of revenge is for me not in the spirit of this website.

Concerning the CTO-question, I think it's also not fair to punish me with a sending of random CTOs that I am clearly not interested in while I only chose wishlist-countries' CTOs for someone who does not explain that he does not want them...

Indeed Emily I agree with what you say ... the rules clearly indicate Stamps in Good condition, no doubles .. if possible you can take into account the wishlist, but some people here are so restrictive, I did just receive such case, well that it is nearly impossible to fulfill their needs ...
But if they insist for this, well they should then use FaceBook Exchange groups and/or Stamps Software sites like Colnect ;-) Cheers, Paul

I also experienced 'revenge rating'. I was given a 3, which is not a negative rating but neutral. I think it's a childish thing to do, just ridiculous! And in my case this user has 2 profiles, double chance to get his profile and receive from him, which also takes the fun away!

I agree a revenge rating is bad news and not in the spirit of this site. But I think both of you are wrong in your rating. The rules are clear, send good quality used stamps with no duplicates. The rules don't say no definitives and no CTOs. The wishlist should be a guideline only. So both of you if you received 100 different used stamps in good condition then you should have given a good rating.

What I mean is, before you give rating, you should also look at what the sender is looking for. For example collector that is looking for eastern europe before 1950, probable have most of his duplicates from eastern europe before 1950. he can not send what he do not have so that is what he send if he do not have what you are looking for.
I see lot of people here saying they do not want CTO's ( only few here really know what a CTO is) and no definitives ( I guess less than 10 people here really know the difference between defenitives and commems )
here is a definitive stamp

and here is a Commemorative, lot of us know this stamp

Thanks for your comment. I normally don't send CTOs unless the profile says that it's ok. So I cannot use all of the CTOs I receive for the next swap.

But my main point here was not about CTOs, it's a huge discussion we already had in other topics. What I call "bad practice" is to not register a received lot until the partner received and registered his one, and then giving a bad rating just for revenge.

phparis, The rules here are that you send similar kind of stamps that you want to receive. So if you get lot of CTO's from a member that is focusing on countries that are known for CTO issues, you should not give him a negative rating for sending CTO's.
As for my self, I say I accept definitives and CTO's, just any kind of stamps, I do send the same, thise are my duplicates. I do have a big collection and I am happy if I get 15 stamps that I can use, and I collect 2 stamps of ea. So If I already have 2, I just pass them to next lot I send. so many of the lots I send are a lot similar to the last lot I received, with some Icelandic stamps to fill up the numbers.
